Desktop client

On Windows 11 PCs where Smart App Control is on (it usually is on machines that shipped with Windows 11), the unsigned exe is blocked outright, with no per-app override. The only way to run the client there is to turn it off: Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings → Off. Note that Windows may not let you switch it back on later without reinstalling.

It watches the running game read-only, via process memory; it never writes to the game. Settings and the offline retry queue live in %APPDATA%/ephinea-ta-client/ . Keep data/quest-triggers.sexp next to the exe.

Along with the clear time, the client records run telemetry from your point of view - per-second HP/TP/PB and position samples, difficulty, deaths, weapons and equipment used, consumable and technique usage, and kill counts. It is shown on the run page once the run is verified.

Quests you quit mid-run are recorded too (switchable in the client's settings). Aborted runs start private - only you can open them - and each one can be made public to share by link. They never appear in any public list and expire like drafts.

Connection tokens can be managed by hand on API tokens .

Recordings the client uploads are hosted by the site. How long a video stays depends on where its run stands on the leaderboard (per quest, party size and PB category):

• In the top 10: kept for as long as it stays there.
• Pushed out of the top 10: kept at least 30 more days from that moment, then deleted. A run that climbs back in is protected again.
• Any other completed run: video deleted 90 days after submission.
• Drafts never sent to review: the video goes with the draft after 14 days.

Only the hosted video is removed - the run, its time and its place on the leaderboard always stay. Videos linked from YouTube or Twitch are never touched, so link one to keep a video up permanently. Recordings also remain in the client's recordings folder on your own disk until you delete them.
